ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

DEPARTMENT “Business and Management” is one of the main and promising structural divisions of the university; takes a leading place in the training of economists, accountants, financiers and customs specialists; makes a significant contribution to the development of economic science in the republic.

The mission of the department is fully consistent with the mission of the university - to be the leading research and educational center of the country's higher economic education system, focused on training highly qualified personnel, ensuring a high socio-economic and cultural level of development and increasing the competitiveness of the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The vision of the department in the future is the implementation of a new innovative model as a research unit of the university, organically combining advanced international experience and the domestic potential of higher education and science in the process of training highly qualified personnel in the field of economics and finance, ensuring full integration into the global educational space.

Today, the department trains highly qualified specialists; educational, scientific, spiritual, educational, innovative and production work is carried out on a large scale to develop fundamental and applied research.

The department provides training in the Kazakh and Russian languages in the following undergraduate educational programs 6B04144 - Economics, 6B04145 - Accounting and Auditing, 6B04146 - Finance, 6B04249 - Customs, and master's programs 7M04170 (71) - Economics, 7M04170 (71) - Finance, as well as teaches economic cycle disciplines and the economic section of diploma projects for students of technical specialties.

The department in its activities is guided by the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Education”, regulatory documents of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Charter and Academic Policy of the Kazakh Transport University, and the Regulations on the department.

The educational process is provided by highly qualified teaching staff. The Department of Business and Management includes 5 Doctors of Science, 30 Candidates of Science, 1 PhD, 7 Masters of Science and 1 senior lecturer.

Educational program 6B04144 – Economics

Graduates of the educational program 6B04144 - Economics are awarded an academic degree - Bachelor of Economics and Business. The goal is to train highly qualified and competitive specialists, taking into account modern requirements, who can contribute to the development of the economy of Kazakhstan. The areas of professional activity are government bodies, institutions and organizations of all forms of ownership, government bodies regulating the economy in the links of market infrastructure, and research institutions.

A bachelor in this educational program must have a set of special theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to solving problems of an economic and organizational nature, the use of modern technologies, information processing, and decision-making in a dynamically changing external environment.

The objects of professional activity of graduates are economic, financial, marketing, production, economic and analytical services of organizations and enterprises, regardless of their type of activity, form of ownership, categories of participants in organizational and legal forms, government bodies at the republican and local levels; research institutes, educational institutions of primary vocational, secondary vocational, higher vocational education.

Training is conducted using credit technology in Kazakh and Russian languages. More than half of the disciplines of the educational program are elective (optional courses), i.e. the student can choose them according to his choice. This gives students the opportunity, starting from the first semester, to choose their learning path, thereby allowing them to link the choice of elective courses with their future professional activities in advance.

Bachelors of the educational program 6B04144 – Economics can perform the following types of professional activities:

- organizational and technological;

- production and management;

- design;

- research;

- educational.

Bachelors of the educational program 6B04144 – Economics can carry out their professional activities in the following areas:

- development and application of management technology in a specific organization;

- development of planning procedures, personnel management, investment, innovation and environmental management;

- conducting foreign economic activities in organizations and enterprises;

- participation in the creation of a scientific, methodological and organizational technological management base;

- development of measures for rational environmental management and environmental protection:

- organization of production, provision of the technological process with the necessary resources;

- analysis of the effectiveness of management decisions, implementation of controlling across the entire range of production and management activities.

University students undergo practical training in the following companies and organizations: NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC, Kedentransservice JSC, Kazpost JSC, Forte Bank JSC, Caspian Bank JSC, Kaztransservice JSC, NT LLP Project", StroyBuilding Almaty LLP, Shyngar Trans LLP, Lokomotiv LLP and others.

Graduates who have successfully completed the educational program 6B04144 - Economics, who have demonstrated a high level of fundamental education and a penchant for creative work, can be recommended for subsequent master's studies.

Educational program B045 – Accounting and Audit

Graduates of the educational program 6B04145 – Accounting and Auditing are awarded the qualification of Bachelor of Economics and Business. The goal is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of accounting, auditing and analysis:

- having solid knowledge in the field of accounting and auditing, familiar with the history of the accounting profession and the development of accounting thought;

- able to keep records of assets, capital and liabilities of companies, correctly evaluate accounting objects, and generate forms of financial and tax reporting;

- competent in matters of planning, management and control of financial and economic activities of companies.

The subject of professional activity of the bachelor's educational program 6B04145 – Accounting and auditing is the ability to conduct financial, economic and managerial activities in organizations:

- registration of business transactions;

- preparation of financial and tax reporting in accordance with IFRS;

- analysis and audit of financial statements in accordance with ISA.

Bachelors of the educational program 6B04145 – Accounting and Auditing can perform the following types of professional activities:

- organizational and managerial activities - possession of skills for qualifying work in financial and tax authorities, enterprises, insurance organizations, banks and other financial institutions, participation in the creation of a scientific, methodological and organizational and technical basis for accounting, development together with other specialists and application of the most effective management methods, rules and procedures for organizing business, taking an active part in the activities of financial institutions in the capital market; support and development of the company’s corporate image;

- calculation and design activities of graduates are carried out in the feasibility study of projects with the provision of data for analyzing the effectiveness of specialized documents (feasibility study, business plan, etc.) relating to the organization of a new enterprise or economic project, and necessary for obtaining loans , loans and other types of financial support to expand activities;

- educational (pedagogical) activities of graduates of this profile consist of professional activities in secondary specialized institutions.

Educational program B046 - Finance

Graduates of the educational program 6B04146 – Finance are awarded the qualification of Bachelor of Economics and Business. The goal is to study socio-economic relations related to the formation, distribution and use of monetary resources.

A student of the educational program 6B04146 – Finance is a future specialist who:

- knows the methodology of currency and credit regulation and the economic situation of both an individual country and the international situation as a whole;

- well versed in tax and financial legislation;

- knows the basics of organizing financial and budgetary regulation;

- knows the theoretical and practical aspects of the financial and banking system;

- knows how to draw up a balance of payments and analyze financial documents;

- knows how to develop business plans for enterprises;

- knows how to forecast, assess risks, find the optimal ratio of income and expected risks; carry out exchange transactions.

Graduates of this educational program work:

- financial and tax managers or analysts;

- risk managers;

- brokers and dealers;

- investment and credit managers;

- insurance agents;

- bank employees; accountants and cashiers;

- assistant economists.

The department's research work is carried out in a number of areas. The department is actively engaged in research work, participating in various projects registered with the National Center for Scientific and Technical Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

1) Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Sarzhanov T.S., Doctor of Economics, Professor Zhuirikov K.K., Ph.D., Associate Professor Rybakova S.I., Ph.D. , PhD, associate professor Omarova B.A., candidate of economic sciences, PhD, associate professor Omarova G.A. participate in the research project “Economic concepts for managing the efficiency of investment and innovation processes in market conditions”, dedicated to the study of the development and identification of reserves for increasing the efficiency of management of investment and innovation processes in various sectors of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2) Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Kainarbekov A.K., Doctor of Economics, Professor Zhuirikov K.K., Candidate of Economic Sciences, PhD, Associate Professor Omarova G.A., Ph.D. Sc., PhD, associate professor Omarova B.A., candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Rybakova S.I., master Ablenova A.D. participate in the research project “Improving budgetary control over the formation, distribution and use of financial resources in the social sphere of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, dedicated to the study of the financial mechanism, budgetary control as a financial management system at the macro and micro levels using legally established levers and methods of effective influence on the final results, based on the requirements of economic laws.

3) Ph.D., Associate Professor Omarova K.T., Doctor of Economics, Professor Zhuirikov K.K. participate in the research project “Formation of a corporate financial and investment strategy of economic entities”, dedicated to the study of the development of the foundations for the formation of a set of scientifically based measures to improve the quality of financial support for investment activities of the Kazakh industry as the basis for economic development.

4) Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Sarzhanov T.S., Doctor of Economics, Professor Zhuirikov K.K., Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Rybakova S.I., Master Kabylbayeva L.S. , master Alimbaeva A.Kh. participate in the research project “Development of the transit potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its impact on the development of the country’s transport system”, dedicated to improving the use of the development potential of transit cargo transportation, as well as researching ways to improve the efficiency of the transport system in the development of foreign economic activity of the Republic of Kazakhstan and determining the prospects for their development .

5) Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor Baisalov A.Zh., Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor Zhumazhanov B.Zh., Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor Shayakhmetov Sh.Sh., Master Ablanova-Muslimova Z. T., master Kyrykbaev E.K. participate in the research project “Legal regulation of commercial investments in capital construction projects”, dedicated to the study of the economic and legal essence of investments, including commercial investments, and the determination of the legal forms of commercial investments in capital construction projects.

Students' research work is carried out constantly and systematically. The department has a scientific-student circle “Young Entrepreneur”. For all the taught disciplines of the department, a list of topics for abstracts and reports for research work has been developed, which is updated annually. Students speak at scientific and practical conferences of the university.


THE INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

International cooperation of the department is developing in several directions: participation in international scientific projects and programs, joint publications, inviting scientists, participation in conferences and advanced training. Today, the department has close scientific ties with many universities in Kazakhstan and the CIS countries and is the organizer of a number of scientific, theoretical and practical conferences. All scientific topics of teachers have practical significance and therefore the work has a connection with production, with industry and scientific institutes.

The department has foreign connections with the Russian University of Transport (Moscow, MIIT), Moscow State Technical University. N.E. Bauman (Moscow), Siberian State University of Transport (Novosibirsk), Omsk Regional Institute (Omsk), Institute of Social and Humanitarian Knowledge (Kazan), Kyrgyz State University of Construction, Transport and Architecture named after N. Isanova (Bishkek), etc.

TRAINING AND LABORATORY FACILITIES

The Department of Business and Management has classrooms that are equipped with the latest technologies corresponding to Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

To support such laboratory work as “Computerization of Accounting”, “New Information Technologies in Economics”, “1C Accounting” and “MS PROJECT” software were purchased. The university has 10 computer classes, 4 Internet classes, all equipped with the latest computer technologies, connected to the Internet and united by a local network.

For conducting classes, classrooms are equipped with virtual stands, various posters, and there are electronic textbooks and training programs that make it easier to understand the discipline being studied.

INFORMATION AND LIBRARY SUPPORT OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS

The work of the department in this area is carried out on the basis of State Educational Standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan 3.08.310-2006. Students majoring in 5B050600 – Economics have access to university computer classes connected to the Internet. Computer time per student per year: in the 2013-2014 academic year it was 250 hours, in the 2014-2015 academic year it was 250 hours, in the 2015-2016 academic year it was 270 hours.

In addition, the department has an electronic library, including electronic literature on 56 disciplines of the department. All UMKD are 100% prepared in electronic form, to which every student has access. The department presented a collection of video and music libraries in basic and specialized disciplines of the specialty.

All electronic educational publications, including virtual laboratories, meet modern requirements, are web-based and are posted on the university’s educational portal (www.kuwc.kz), thereby providing the opportunity to work on the corporate network and the Internet.

The University closely cooperates with such publishing houses as: State Educational Institution “UMC for Education on Railway Transport” (Moscow), “Economy” (Almaty), “Foliant” (Astana), “Transport” (Moscow), “ Bastau" (Almaty), "Alla Prima" (Almaty) and many others.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

During the educational process, along with educational, research and practical work, the department is engaged in educational work, including: assigning mentors from among experienced teachers of the department to young teachers, trainees of the department, those responsible for educational work among students in the department are appointed, the department participated in university-wide educational events, conducted lessons on courage, meetings with young people.The entire department's teaching staff participated in university events dedicated to the celebration of: Knowledge Day, Independence Day. They held review lectures and discussions outlining the main points of the annual Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the people of Kazakhstan.

The department actively participates in sporting events, cleanup days, and makes a great contribution to the landscaping of the university territory.
